Choosing a puppy means imagining a part of your life alongside it.
It is a decision that deserves time, questions and a way of looking that goes beyond the first photograph. There are questions that, from our side of the table, we are especially glad to be asked.
Why questions matter
Asking questions is already a way of caring for the choice.
There is no perfect list. There are, though, a few subjects worth exploring before letting a puppy’s looks alone guide you.
The health of the breeding dogs
Which genetic and clinical checks are carried out on the breeding dogs? How often? Through which facilities?
Genetics is complex and no test can rule out every risk. Serious preventive work, though, leaves a precise trail: tests, results, checks and decisions.
Where the puppies grow up
The first weeks are a short time, but an important one. That is why it matters to know where the puppies grow up and what world they meet while they are learning about it.
People, noises, surfaces, other dogs, indoor and outdoor spaces: experiences, when introduced gradually, can build confidence and the ability to handle what comes next.
How the family is chosen
The questions put to the family also say a lot about how a kennel looks at its own puppies. Where do you live? What are your rhythms? How much time will you be able to give the dog? What place will it have in your daily life?
Knowing these things makes it possible to weigh the puppy’s characteristics alongside the life that awaits it.
What happens after placement
Placement is a passage, not a break. So it is worth asking what is handed over with the puppy and what relationship remains with the kennel in the months that follow.
The first days in a new home bring changes and questions. Having someone to turn to at that stage means being able to rely on knowledge that does not stop the moment the puppy crosses the kennel threshold.
Answers that deserve attention
Immediate availability in any size or colour. No interest in the family. Difficulty in meeting the mother. A rush to close the deal.
These are things that deserve attention when the choice reshapes the way you live.
If you have other questions, write to us. Even if you are still at the start of your search, even if you are comparing different kennels, even if you have not yet decided. Questions are part of the choice, and we are glad to hear them.
